Conversations – New Features and Improvements
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been working on enhancements to elevate your Conversations experience. New features and improvements are on the way!
Since our inception in 2012, Fastcall has been on a journey of evolution. We started by logging all calls to the Salesforce Activity (Task); creating a Task for each call. As we grew, we realized the need for a more robust system and developed our first data model, which included Calls, Connections, and Attempts. This was a significant step towards reducing our reliance on the Salesforce Task, which has its limitations, and capturing the complexity of calls that are transferred to other users, as well as inbound calls attempting multiple users in an IVR.
Now, we are excited to announce another significant step forward with the introduction of Conversations. This new parent object will sit on top of Calls and Messages, allowing us to capture the complexity of modern business communications where there are often multiple participants in a call or message thread. The Conversation object also allows conversations to be associated with topics, such as Salesforce Cases, Opportunities, or a custom object.

Conversations structured and identified based on the following elements
- Fastcall Phone Number: Now, each Conversation is directly associated with the Fastcall phone number used in that interaction. Previously, it was linked to a user or group associated with the Fastcall number; now, the Fastcall number itself is stored in the Conversation’s Internal ID field, centralizing the Conversation reference on the specific number.
- External Participants: Each external participant in a Conversation has their Record ID saved (if registered in the system) or, if not registered, their phone number in E164 format. This ensures that any incoming message or call can be accurately identified.
When a new message or call is received, the system follows these steps to associate the Conversation with an existing thread or create a new one:
- Status Filter: Only Conversations with a “New” or “Active” status are considered. Conversations with a “Closed” status are excluded, maintaining active threads and avoiding reopening closed Conversations.
- Fastcall Number Match Check: The Conversation must have the same Internal ID (Fastcall number) to which the message or call was directed.
- External Participant Match:
- If the external participant who sent the call or message has a Record ID, an exact match is searched for in the participant records.
- If the sender of the message or call does not have a Record ID, a match is searched for using the external participant’s phone number in E164 format.
This workflow ensures that all messages and calls are correctly assigned to the relevant active Conversation, maintaining thread continuity and consolidating information in one place based on the combination of the Fastcall number and external participant data.
Show Conversation Participants
We’re excited to introduce the Conversation Participant List. This list unifies the Conversation audience and active participants, giving you complete visibility into who’s involved. With this added transparency, managing discussions and collaborations becomes easier, leading to more productive meetings and interactions.

Add or Remove Participants in Conversations
You now have the flexibility to manage participants within a Conversation by adding or removing individuals as needed. This new capability lets you tailor the Conversation to include/exclude people at any time, ensuring focused discussions and improving collaboration.

Close Conversation
You now have the option to close Conversations. However, you can still view closed Conversations and reopen them if needed, ensuring that all information remains accessible and allowing you to easily pick up past threads when necessary.

Conference – New UI/UX
We’ve introduced a streamlined way to add participants to conferences with a new, intuitive interface. Now, to include someone in a conference, go to the participants list and click the “Add Participant” icon. This new UI makes it easier to manage your conference participants directly from the updated participant list interface.

From there, select the participant you’d like to include in the conference from the available list.
