How Can We Help?

Unit – Setting up the Fastcall Task Page Layout

This unit will take you through setting up the appropriate page layout for Task objects.

This unit assumes you have completed the previous units in the Fastcall Setup module. This unit also assumes you know the basics about administering objects, profiles and page layouts in Salesforce.

Introduction

Fastcall adds some custom fields to the Salesforce Task object. In order to get the most out of Fastcall, these need to be exposed on a page layout so users can see them. Fastcall comes with a suitable page layout that adds these fields to the default Salesforce page layout. If you chose to use the Fastcall Task page layout, use Page Layout Assignment to assign to the preferred Salesforce profile. Mostly, our subscriber edit an existing Task page layout.

Fastcall has an advanced setup to avoid creating a Salesforce Task with each call. By default, a Task is created.

1. Open the Task object in the Object Manager

Open your Salesforce org’s Setup menu and navigate to the Task object in the Object Manager.

2. Select ‘Page Layouts’

You will either assign the Fastcall page or edit your existing page.

3. Change the page layout assignment

Choose ‘page layout assignment’, then press ‘Edit Assignment’. Choose the profiles for ‘Standard User’ and ‘System Administrator’ and change them to the ‘FastCall Task Layout’, then click ‘Save’.

4. Edit an existing Task page layout

Add Fastcall custom fields as needed. You may want to create a new section named Fastcall. We have details on the Fastcal Data Model, our options for Salesforce Task creation and much more. For now, we want you to know that Salesforce does require you to edit the page layout.  Later we will show you how to add Fastcall custom objects to your Salesforce Leads, Contacts, Accounts, etc. We also have optional custom fields that can be added to Salesforce standard objects (count counts, date of last call, etc). We will go over these bits later.
